Wow, what a race. Felt like 100 degrees, probably only 99! After finishing 4th in the last few races, I decided to hit the start hard, and entered the trails in third. Worked my way to first until I got caught up in a crash trying to pass some early riders. Lost my mojo, and rest of the race fell apart. I crashed into a tree, knocked my head, then fell off the bike. Then I lost first, lost second, lost third, and then I lost my balance and went out over the handlebars down over the side of the only downhill on the course! Struggled to finish, beaten, hot, and cramping! Still a good day overall, finished 4th in my division (which was the largest division with over 15 riders); had fun with friends, and got to get some much needed saddle time in race conditions. Lesson learned today, I need time on the hills, and more patience at the start!
